Images of his Rapture of the Deep and Mountain series are included in the 5th edition of Exploring Color Photography: From Film to Pixels, a widely used textbook by Robert Hirsch. An essay by Rosanna Albertini on his Inconsolable series is included in the limited edition publication White Owls-Art in LA 1994–2011. Stephen has recently been awarded the San Andreas Fellowship at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA. This is the first time the fellowship and month-long residency has been awarded to a practicing visual artist. He has also been selected to be one of 16 international artists, scientists, and educators to participate in The Arctic Circle expeditionary residency in the Fall of 2012.
