"Matt Sellars grew up in Spokane looking at landscapes that were falling apart. Although immaculately constructed, his sculptures pay homage to a world of lost things, barns swaying in abandoned fields, shotgun shacks and electric coils burned out and tossed aside.

From the rubble in his memory, he makes perfect objects with a hitch in their construction. His wooden coils could never function, and his table-top barns, newly minted, would collapse were they full scale in the world.att Sellars combines his affection for the romance of the western landscape with his keen eye and ability to reduce forms to their essence in his sculptural work." —Regina Hackett, Seattle PI

Matt's work has been exhibited in the Schneider Museum (Ashland, OR), the Sun Valley Center for the Arts (Sun Valley, ID), Western Gallery (Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA), the Hallie Ford Museum (Willamette University, Salem, OR), and the Boise Art Museum (Boise, ID). He has had three solo shows at Platform.
