Patte Loper takes a fleeting cultural moments, such as those in a film still or a photo from a magazine article, and slows them down, analyzes them, renders them carefully, and ultimately makes them her own. Her work is a meditation on various forms of expression and the compression and expansion of time. The resulting images are in the form of meticulous graphite drawings or luscious oil paintings on paper. Patte's work has been exhibited in California, New York, Chicago and Milan. She has had two solo shows at Platform.
